Suffragettes Workshop

Lesson: History

Class: Year 6 Year: 2017 - 2018

Preston’s own Edith Rigby came to school yesterday to visit Year 6. We learnt about the suffrage movement and the sacrifices that some women made to get their voices heard. We explored the reasons why suffragettes thought their actions were justified, and debated whether ‘deeds not words’ was the ‘right’ means to an end.  Overall, we learnt a lot about equality and fairness and made links to current issues both nationally and globally. We took part in really thought-provoking sessions and the children demonstrated excellent empathy skills. Well done Year 6.
