The Children’s Bookshow

This morning, Year 5 travelled to Blackpool to the Children's Bookshow at the Grand Theatre. They were entertained by the author Frank Cottrell-Boyce who read extracts from his new book The Wonder and another of his novels, Cosmic. He also performed some magic tricks, and held a question and answer session with the children. We found out what inspires Frank to write, where he gets his ideas for characters from, and all about his work as a writer and well-published author. Did you know that Frank has even written scripts for Doctor Who and Coronation Street, as well as 13 wonderful books? And he was the writer behind that piece of TV magic, when Paddington met the late Queen Elizabeth II. 

At the end of the show, each child was given a copy of Frank's brand new book The Wonder to take home - some children couldn't wait until they got home and delved into their new books on the bus back to school! Well done Year 5!
