Oracy Launch Week in Year 4
Lesson: Literacy
This week, we launched our Listening Ladder and Dicussion Guidelines through lots of oracy activities across the curriculum. We started the week by playing listening games and using our De Bono's Thinking Hats to explore our class poem, Macavity. Later in the week, we used Concept Cartoons to explore different points of views about Macavity. We learnt how to use the Nest technique to practise and refine our points orally to ourselves, before sharing our opinions in a trio. We learnt how to give eye contact and nods of encouragement during the discussion; one person in the trio had the specific role of just listening to the discussion, ready to summarise the key points that were discussed and share these with another group. On Friday, we are going to develop these points further by putting Macavity on trial in a mock courtroom. Will he be found guilty of any crimes?
