Interfaith Week 2023
This year, we are marking Interfaith Week (12 - 19th November 2023) by considering prayer and non-religious reflection. Through this theme, we will be learning more about the religious practises of the 6 major world faiths that we study at Sherwood:
- Christianity
- Islam
- Judaism
- Buddhism
- Hinduism
- Sikhism
We will also consider how people with non-relgious worldviews might stop, pause and reflect as part of their daily/weekly routine.
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Parent Forum met on Monday 6th November. Parents, together with their children, discussed the following questions:
- Do you pray/take time to reflect?
- Why do you pray or take time to reflect?
- Do you use anything that is special to you or significant?
This was a really interesting session that provided us with some great thoughts and ideas for our Interfaith Week activities.
Our Interfaith Week displays will showcase some of the items that are used to support people with their prayer/reflection e.g. prayer beads, prayer mats, prayer wheels. Children will also have the opportunity to listen to examples of prayer across the different faiths.
