Sherwood Primary School
"We are Sherwood. Each of us unique. As one family, we all thrive and excel together."
Interfaith Week 2024
This year during Interfaith Week (Week commencing 11th November 2024), we have introduced our 5 new Persona Dolls:
Sher
Aamani
Grace
Fatima
Oliver
Each doll has had its own station around school where children have been able to visit and find out some information about their identity and cultural story. The personas of these dolls have been created by Sherwood staff, governors, parents and children.
Following Interfaith Week, the dolls will be used across all year groups to support the curriculum. This could include exploring the faith or culture of a doll, debating what our doll could do when faced with friendship challenges or celebrating an important occasion with a doll. Personas and stories of these dolls can empower pupils to challenge stereotypes, speaking up for themselves and others. Pupils can develop empathy, self-confidence, a sense of fairness and critical thinking skills as they get to know the dolls.
As always, we endeavour to celebrate and learn about differences but also teach our children of the many similarities that run across religious and non-religious worldviews.
