SEND

Sherwood Primary School is an inclusive school and aims to meet the needs of all pupils applying for a school place. We will work closely with parents and professionals to ensure that a pupils' needs are met.

We are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for all children who have a disability. We aim to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which people feel free to disclose their disability and to participate fully in school life. Steps taken to ensure all children with disabilities have access to a full and enriched educational experience include:

  • raising awareness and staff training;

  • ensuring all policies reflect the school's commitment to equal opportunities for children with disabilities;

  • monitoring the impact of policies;

  • reviewing policies alongside consultation with all stakeholders;

  • maintaining high expectations for all.

Admissions

The local authority, as the coordinating body for admissions, will require professional supporting evidence if admission is to be made under the criterion for special medical or social circumstances. Such evidence must set out the particular reasons why Sherwood Primary School is the most suitable school and the difficulties which would be caused if the child had to attend another school.
