The Arts
It is our aim that all children will foster an enjoyment for the arts and develop personal aspirations to participate and pursue their interests in arts. We aim to provide opportunities that support pupil’s ability to:
- appreciate creative arts and see themselves as artists, musicians and performers
- find a sense of purpose, achievement and fulfilment in artistic expression
- be able to express their ideas and feelings through imaginative creation and performance
- appreciate and evaluate work of others and a range of artists and performers, from other cultures past and present day
Planned provision for arts education
In the foundation stage, there is a balance of adult-led and child-initiated experiences in art and design, music, dance and imaginative and role play and combinations of these, to give all children a broad programme of creative development. Art and design, music and dance are timetabled as weekly sessions in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. Drama is delivered across the curriculum and used to bring learning to life within all curriculum areas.
