Oracy launch week

Lesson: Personal, Social and Emotional Education

Class: Year 5 Year: 2023 - 2024

This week has been Sherwood's oracy launch week with the children being introduced to Discussion guidelines and 'Our Listening Ladder'. A range of activities have been introduced to help the children with speaking and listening in a variety of ways. We began by playing games on Monday and Tuesday before using nest activities to think about how we present our ideas in English and History. We then progressed to using trios, where one child would listen in to two others and their discussion before presenting the thoughts to others. These activities were used across a number of subjects throughout the week. Watch out for more opportunities in the coming weeks.
