Year 2’s Colourful Textiles

Year 2 have been investigating the dip-dyeing process in their textiles art unit.  The children began by folding a white fabric square and dipping it into into brusho dye.  They watched as their primary colour travelled up the threads in the fabric, then mixed with other primary colours to create a secondary colour.  They have created some beautiful coloured patterns!

The next lesson, Year 2 explored making wax rubbings from a range of textures, including tree logs, leaves, metalwork and maths equipment.  They then transferred these ideas onto their dip-dyed fabric.  The results are amazing!  The children enjoyed layering and building up the process to create a final piece of textiles.  They evaluated and reflected on their own and others' designs.
