Trip to Catalyst Science Discovery Centre

Dear Parents,

We intend to take both Year 5 classes to the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre near Widnes to support our Science curriculum. During the first term in Spring we looked at Space and the Earth, Sun and Moon and with this in mind we have booked a session in the Planetarium where the children will revisit their understanding of the movement of the Earth before learning to identify constellations. In addition to this another workshop has been booked which introduces the children to Forensic Science disciplines, in which they will attempt to solve a mystery using scientific tests on crime scene evidence.

The date of the visit will be Tuesday 29th April 2025. We will leave school after registration and return to school by 3.30 pm. Children will need to wear their school uniform and bring a coat. The children will also need to bring a packed lunch. If children are on school dinners, please provide them with a packed lunch and the school office will balance the payment.

We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £18 for the trip. If your child is in receipt of Pupil Premium funding, then school will be asking for a voluntary contribution of £9. Payment for the trip will be via ParentPay and should be received no later than Friday 4th April 2025.
