Motor Skills
On this page you will find useful hints and tips to help develop your child's fine motor skills. Fine motor skills involve the use of small muscles that control the hand, fingers and thumb. They help children perform important tasks like buttoning and zipping, drawing, writing and more. Young children need time to practise these skills in everyday situations. The ideas on this page will help you enhance that learning at home.
You will also find the 'patter' that we use in school when we are teaching your child to form their letters. This patter comes from the Red Rose Letters and Sounds phonics programme that we follow at Sherwood. It would be useful if you could use the same language when supporting your child at home.
