Anglo-Saxon Workshop
Lesson: History
Today, Year 4 were visited by Midredth, an Anglo-Saxon villager, who taught us a lot about life in Britain during Anglo-Saxon times. We began with the story of Beowulf and Grendel, then learnt about Alfred the Great. We used ourselves to create a map of Anglo-Saxon Britain and made Anglo-Saxon houses. We then created new settlements and chose a new leader - it was difficult deciding where our settlements should be, what we should eat and what we could make to sell to other settlements. We also explored some artefacts and investigated what they were made from, how they were made and what they were used for. Finally, we prepared for battle with spear training - we made fierce Anglo-Saxon warriors!
