Year 5 Use Drama and Technology to Inspire our Creative Writing!
Lesson: Literacy
Class: Year 5 Year: 2022 - 2023
Year 5 worked in groups to create a freeze frame from the traditional tale, the Gingerbread Man. They were inspired by their drama to think of possible relative clause sentences that would fit their particular scene. They embedded the relative pronouns 'whose,' 'who,' and 'which' in their relative clause sentences. As you can see, the children had lots of fun considering the emotions and actions of the characters.
We then used the class set of ipads to capture their freeze frame, upload it onto Seesaw and type a relative clause sentence to match alongside it. We enjoyed screen mirroring these onto the interactive whiteboard afterwards to share our ideas with the class.
The children used the fantastic vocabulary app 'visuwords.com' to expand their vocabulary, with great results! They succeeded in finding some adventurous words such as, leapt, frantically, ripe, suspicious and escaped, that improved their sentences, giving it more dramatic impact. Well done Year 5!
