Year 5 Viking experience
Lesson: History
Class: Year 5 Year: 2024 - 2025
The children all time travelled back to the time of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings in Cheshire today and were immediately put through their paces. The Danegeld had gone missing and Harald Bloodaxe and his Wolf warriors had been dispatched from Yorvik to investigate and ransack the village if needed. The children agreed to help the village folk so learnt about feeding themselves through the collection of Venison and the gathering of the corn for the making of bread. They learnt how to separate the grain from the chaff and how to grind this into flour. They also learnt how to make items to sell for other goods, hopefully they all brought something home to show you. Finally they were all given battle training learning how to form defensive shield wall and also formations for attack.
All of the children thoroughly enjoyed their day with many memories made. They also impressed us with their knowledge which they shared with the villagers. Well done to all of the children who showed how much of a Viking they really were.
